We’re now looking for an experienced and passionate Driver Trainer in Christchurch to help shape the next generation of drivers and ensure our team continues to deliver excellence on every journey.

About the role

As a Driver Trainer, you’ll be at the heart of our people development. You’ll provide hands-on training for new recruits, helping them earn their Class 2 and Class 4 licences, and you’ll work closely with our existing drivers to maintain high standards of skill, safety and professionalism.

This role is about more than just driving; it’s about mentoring, motivating and building confidence. You’ll design and deliver training that reflects real-world driving situations, oversee NZQA and NZTA qualification programmes, and make sure all our training records and plans stay up to date and accurate.

You’ll also play a key role in promoting health, safety and wellbeing across the business; leading by example to make sure every session, whether on the road or in the classroom, is carried out with care and confidence.

What you’ll do

No two days are the same. You might be:

• Running induction sessions for new drivers
• Coaching experienced team members to sharpen their skills
• Conducting driver assessments or refresher training
• Leading quarterly driver briefings or health & safety sessions
• Supporting depots with targeted follow-up training or local route knowledge

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and a genuine passion for helping others succeed. You know how to build trust, lead by example and make training both informative and enjoyable.

You’ll also bring:

• Registration as a Driver Licence Trainer and Endorsement Trainer
• NZTA/NZQA qualifications, including I endorsements for Class 2 and 4
• A solid understanding of passenger transport and safety standards
• Confidence working both independently and as part of a team
• A positive, reliable and self-motivated attitude

If you have experience delivering NZQA or unit standards training, that’s a real bonus.
